Scientists in Italy have claimed that the mysterious shroud couldn’t have been forged in medieval times. The authenticity of the Turin Shroud, an ancient burial cloth bearing the image of Jesus, has been the subject of numerous studies over the years with varying results. Many believe the shroud to be a medieval forgery due to radiocarbon testing dating it to between 1260 and 1390, while others dispute this based on the claim that the shroud was repaired with contemperary cloth after being damaged in a fire around that time. The latest study however suggests that the image on the shroud could not have been produced in the 13th century and therefore can’t be a hoax.

Italian scientists have conducted a series of advanced experiments which, they claim, show that the marks on the shroud – purportedly left by the imprint of Christ’s body – could not possibly have been faked with technology that was available in the medieval period.
